Alpha Backer Board an innovative waterproof XPS core backer board that is manufactured from high density polystyrene. The rigid insulating core is coated with a specially formulated reinforced cementitious coating that provides an extra hard wearing robust surface that is perfect for the application of tiles.
The foam core of these boards has excellent thermal insulation properties whilst also providing high compressive strength while also being low in weight. The cementitious coating adds fire resistant properties. The boards have excellent impact resilience ensuring that it stands up to the rigours of the site environment.
The boards can be used for insulation beneath underfloor heating, waterproof wall and floor boards for wet rooms and steam rooms, also they can be used on external or damp environments such as garages and conservatories. The boards provide an excellent thermal and moisture barrier as well as providing a perfect surface for tiling on to.
The boards can be tiled with all types of ceramic, glass or stone tile whether they are mosaic or large format tiles. Especially large and thin tiles benefit from the durability of the xps tile backer board.
