In terms of real wood and engineered wood flooring, you should find that all of our flooring options belonging to those categories are of a similar or identical thickness (14mm+). These flooring options offer you the authentic, hard-wearing feel and characteristics of real wood, and are more likely to retain more elaborate or deeply-cut patterns and designs due to their innate thickness. Laminate wood flooring, on the other hand, can range in thickness from 6-12mm. 10-12mm laminate flooring offers the most authentic and hard-wearing laminate wood-effect, whilst 6-8mm laminate flooring is cheaper, yet may negatively impact room acoustics, give low impact resistance, or make subfloor imperfections visible. Thicker floors are less likely to be affected by heat and moisture fluctuations, while thinner floors can work better with underfloor heating.
