Alpha 80mm Self-Adhesive Butyl Tape

The Alpha Self-Adhesive Butyl Tape (80mm x 5m) is a waterproof, crack-bridging sealing tape for floor-to-wall joints in bathrooms, showers and wet rooms.

It's built for professional tilers and experienced DIY users working on Irish bathroom and wet room projects, forming a watertight seal at floor-to-wall joints, corners and other movement areas before tiling begins. The tape uses a self-adhesive butyl rubber backing, so it bonds directly to the substrate without needing a separate adhesive, and a non-woven top surface that's designed to take tile adhesive directly on top rather than requiring a separate bonding step.

The butyl backing gives a strong bond to concrete, sand and cement screed, tile backer boards and plasterboard, which covers most substrates found on Irish sites. It stays flexible after application, so it can bridge minor structural movement without the seal cracking or lifting, and it's fully waterproof and vapour resistant once in place. That makes it suitable for bathroom renovations, wet rooms, shower enclosures and balconies in both domestic and commercial projects.

On site, it's commonly used for sealing floor-to-wall joints in bathrooms, waterproofing shower corners and enclosures, sealing around shower trays and baths, protecting pipe penetrations, and forming part of a wet room tanking system.
