Alpha Ultra Thin Decoupling Membrane 0.8mm

The Alpha Ultra Thin Decoupling Membrane is a tiling underlay, delivering crack isolation, waterproofing and vapour control under tile floors.

It sits between the substrate and the tile adhesive, absorbing the movement that concrete, screed and timber floors go through as temperature and moisture levels shift. In Irish homes, that movement is a common cause of hairline cracks in grout and tiles, particularly over screed floors in bathrooms and kitchens. At 0.8mm thick, the membrane adds almost no height to the floor build-up, which makes it a practical choice for retrofit jobs, timber subfloors and anywhere a door threshold restricts how much extra depth you can work with.

The membrane is built with a PE core laminated to PET fleece on both faces, giving strong mechanical adhesion to flexible tile adhesive on either side. It also functions as a waterproofing and vapour control layer, so it's suited to wet rooms and basements as well as standard bathroom and kitchen floors. It can be installed over concrete slabs, sand and cement screeds, timber floors, tile backer boards and existing tiled surfaces, and it's supplied as a 1m wide roll for faster coverage with fewer joints to seal.
